My journey as a tutor dates back to my early days in high school—my freshman year. It was then that I found myself entranced by the complexities of advanced algebra. This subject further developed my curiosity and passion for understanding mathematical patterns. Amidst a classroom arranged in small clusters, my desk was paired with a student in his junior year. This student had a reputation for being delinquent and gang affiliated. Yet, to me, he was simply my math neighbor.

Despite his lackadaisical participation in class and his frequent receipts of failing grades, my neighbor did possess a motivation to be better. One day, he approached me seeking clarity on a particularly challenging concept. Patiently, I worked with him until he gained confidence to tackle practice problems independently. These exchanges soon became a regular feature of our classroom interactions.

While our teacher was occasionally available for assistance, it became apparent that my neighbor found my explanations more accessible and relatable. Reflecting on these interactions later in life, I realized that they laid the groundwork for my tutoring philosophy—a philosophy centered on personalized guidance and unwavering support.

Fast forward to the present, and I find myself paving the way for my own tutoring business, a venture borne out of a desire to empower others to unlock their academic potential. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with universities, online programs, and tutoring marketplaces. What drives me in this journey is the happiness of witnessing people thrive and realize their capabilities with a little guidance.
